There are two ways that Mcafee antivirus can block a software program or file from running if it incorrectly false flags that file or program as being malicious when it is not:

  1. Mcafee can block the program in memory meaning, prevent the program from running properly or running at all.
  2. Mcafee can block the program from accessing the internet. Not all software programs require this but most of our software programs do.

To whitelist or safelist a file or program so it can run properly in memory:

  1. Double click on the Mcafee tray icon to open the software program.
