Malwarebytes is one of the most popular antivirus antimalware programs that exists and is pretty good at not raising too many false flags regarding falsely reporting a safe program as not safe. Even so, once in a while ALL antivirus, including Malwarebytes, reports a harmless file as being otherwise. Rectifying this situation is quite easy with this software.

To set an exception for a file or program with Malwarebytes:

  1. Double click the Malwarebytes tray icon to make its interface visible.
  2. Click on ⚙ Settings, which, at the time of this writing, is on the left side of the program.
  3. Click on the tab with the text Exclusions.
  4. Click on the button that has the text Add Exclusion.
  5. Tick the option button with the text next to it that reads Exclude a File or Folder ...
